NRR is proud to release Chinese experimental pioneer Yan Jun's new album 'europe.' Recorded in Germany during an artist residency at daad; his pure feedback predates the projected stoicism of certain types of American noise by presenting sounds that can rightly be called extreme without any hint of aggression.

After all is said and despite the overall seriousness of the proceedings Yan seems like someone you'd like to have drinks with.

"Today I think it's always worth fighting against the spectacle machine: media, entertainment, mass will, political drama, etc. In the past I fought against it with the 'Declaration'. Today I fight against it by avoiding all kinds of declarations, since I have to end the logic of the dramatic illusion - which is the only thing you get from movements today." - Yan Jun, 2011.

I cannot praise this album enough. This album is absolutely terrifying! The many starts and stops creates this very h settling tension. Each start expands on the stopper idea previously. It’s like the music equivalent of walking through thick fog while passing out multiple times throughout trying to find a place to orientate yourself. There may or may not be something sinister in that fog, but you don’t want to stick around to find out. Bought the vinyl so I summon the fog demons through spe showhornwithteeth
